Here is a vintage Otto Link ToneMaster tenor mouthpiece. It is stamped 4 on the table with serial number R15. This mouthpiece measures .106" on my gauge.
The Otto Link ToneMaster was the mouthpiece of choice for a variety of tenor stars such as Charlie Rouse, Johnny Griffin, John Coltrane and Stan Getz. The larger chamber works very well on pre Mark VI Selmers and vintage American horns.
This mouthpiece was opened by another refacer by the old school bending method before we got it. This was the method used by Otto Link himself as well as Chicago legend, Frank wells. It created a more pronounced baffle that the originals and a slightly duckbill shape to the beak. It was adjusted for wear by Sebastian Knox and replated in carat gold. If you like the large chamber design and prefer a more open and contemporary size this is a good choice for you.
