Here is a vintage Selmer scroll shank C*. This piece was opened by Sebastian Knox from .063"(C*) to .080" (E).
These are the last mouthpieces that Selmer made in the '70s with the classic horseshoe/cathedral style chamber configuration before adopting the square chamber of the S-80 series that eventually started coming with the Mark VII saxophones. This last generation has the smallest chamber and lowest beak of the Soloist and "Soloist Style" pieces.
This piece was setup by Sebastian with the jazz saxophonist in mind: more modern baffle, facing style and tip work. This piece features a nice stability, good focus and cut. Of course, the individual experience may vary.
